Alcuni viaggi iniziano senza preavviso, inaspettati, profondi.�Quello di Lorenzo Fonda nasce poche settimane dopo la perdita di sua moglie, l’illustratrice Elena Xausa. Di fronte al dolore, Lorenzo sceglie di disegnare: le sue pagine diventano un diario a fumetti intimo, crudo e pieno d’amore, che cerca di dare forma all’assenza trasformandola in racconto.
📖 Quel diario è oggi “Per Aspera ad Astra”, una graphic memoir pubblicata da Coconino Press , in uscita proprio durante l’edizione 2025 del TCBF, uno dei festival ai quali Elena era più affezionata.
Fonda è filmmaker e artista multimediale con base a Woodstock (NY) che ha sempre usato linguaggi diversi per raccontare storie.
🖼️ Per Aspera ad Astra sarà in mostra a Casa Robegan di @fondazionemazzotti , in un’esposizione che raccoglie i materiali che hanno accompagnato questo viaggio artistico ed emotivo.
Un tributo personale, una riflessione sulla vita e la morte e sull’arte come risposta ad esse, ma anche un’opera che parla a chiunque abbia mai vissuto un grande amore. E una grande perdita.

🇬🇧 Some journeys begin without warning—unexpected, profound.
LorenzoFonda’s began just weeks after the loss of his wife, illustrator Elena Xausa. Faced with grief, Lorenzo chose to draw: his pages became an intimate, raw, and love-filled comics diary, an attempt to give shape to absence by turning it into story.
📖 That diary is now Per Aspera ad Astra, a graphic memoir published by CoconinoPress, set to launch during the 2025 edition of Treviso Comic Book Festival.
Fonda is a filmmaker and multimedia artist based in Woodstock (NY), who has always used different languages to tell stories.
🖼️ Per Aspera ad Astra will be on display at Ca’daNoal, in an exhibition featuring the materials that accompanied this emotional and artistic journey.
A personal tribute—but also a work that speaks to anyone who has ever experienced great love. And great loss.
